Dr. Brader was a lovely, engaging man. My parents considered him a friend, and they had the pleasure of flying with him several times.

Dr. Brader was also my orthodontist for the year I wore braces, and made the process less traumatic than it might have been. I was opposed to getting braces because back then the shiny oral bands set you up to be called "Tinsel Teeth" - teased by your friends, and looking temporarily goofy. Dr. Brader knew how to handle vain young girls like myself by saying "You're a pretty girl with nice teeth. Just a little time and you'll look even better, and it will be like icing on a cake." Sold.

There were times I dreaded seeing him, as he seemed rather tough about the tightening process, but he was doing his job. I hated all the whining I did about wires that were sticking out and stabbing into my inner cheeks, and soft wax was my best friend for much of that time. Still, when those braces came off, a clear difference was very apparent, and all was forgiven.
