Our "Grumpy Old Lady" and my official "Pillow Kitty"

Benji was the one who always kept the other animals in the house in line. Anyone who says animals can't show "human" emotions didn't see the looks given to Benji the day she broke up a disagreement between two of the boy kitties in the house. They were growling and hissing at each other and she just walked right up between them and let out a deep, very loud "WOOF!" Three humans, one pit bull puppy and five cats all all stopped dead in their tracks and looked at her with the same shocked expression on their faces of "OH MY GOD SHE JUST BARKED!" I think the dog was more confused then anything because at the time she was only about 9 months old and had never barked in her life.

Benji was definately the boss of the house, and she was full of "cattitude" but she was also a very sweet girl. She loved to cuddle with her sister Deirdre and spent every night laying on my pillow curled around my head purring away.

Jules, our adopted feral kitty from Las Vegas was terrified of thunderstorms when we first moved to Florida. He would hear the rain and the thunder and start shaking and go hide under the bed. Benji would go find Deirdre wherever she was, and the two of them would crawl under the bed and wrap themselves around Jules to make him feel safe until the storm passed. Any other time she was more likely to smack him on the head then cuddle with him, but she always knew when he needed someone to make him feel safe, and she was always there.

When we took in a sickly puppy that we rescued, she and Deirdre decided that the puppy needed some serious kitty loving if she was going to get healthy, and the two of them would spend hours sleeping with the pup, grooming her and making her feel safe.
