Norman Ford's name was brought to the public's attention on Feb. 6, 1938, when he was gunned down outside a Toronto police station. Thomas "Shorty" Bryans, a member of the Red Ryan Gang, was arrested upon trying to flee the scene of the shooting. Bryans was tried and executed for the murder.
