Richard "Dick KC4GZ1" Batchelor, 75, of Little Switzerland, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, at The Brian Center.
Born in Winter Park, Fla., he lived in Spruce Pine for 20 years. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a career radio announcer and engineer, and an avid ham radio operator.
He is survived by his son, Dr. De Batchelor of Sanford, Fla.; a daughter, Mingon Batchelor of Winter Park, Fla.; brother, James Batchelor of Springfield, Va.
