ANDERSON, Allan Mills - Age 91, passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2007. Allan was born in Chicago, Illinois to George and Jessie Anderson. Growing up he was active in church, excelled in school, and earned the distinction of Eagle Scout. Allan graduated from Hirsch High School (Chicago), and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in economics from De Pauw University. He went on to receive his law degree from Northwestern University. Allan then served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. Following the war, he was employed for 40 years as General Attorney and Manager of the Livestock Department for the Hartford Insurance Company. Upon retirement, Allan moved to Santa Rosa. He continued to pursue his avid interests in stamp collecting, tennis, and chess, where he earned the rank of chess expert. He had a passion for reading, especially adventure, history, and science fiction. Allan was preceded in death by a brother Robert Lewis, and a beloved son, Mark Hutchison. He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Carroll; beloved son, Wayne Carter and daughter-in-law, Robin of Santa Rosa; beloved son, Bruce Wylie and daughter-in-law, Linnae of Rochelle, Illinois; and adored grandchildren, Adam, Lily, Britt, Seth, and Michael, as well as a nephew and numerous nieces. Throughout his life Allan maintained a sharp intellect and will be remembered by all for his integrity, generous nature, and gentle heart. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2007 at the Church of the Roses Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Church of the Roses, 2500 Patio Ct. Santa Rosa, CA 95405.
