Reginald D. Carter

CARTER, Mr. Reginald D.
Kalamazoo, MI
Was born June 24, 1957, in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of Thomas Robinson Sr. and Emily Robinson. On February 24, 2006, Reggie departed from his earthen vessel to go to a home not made by hands. Reggie confessed his faith in God at an early age. He was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. M.H. Raspberry, and sang in the Beginner's Choir. After graduating from Benton Harbor High School in 1975, Reggie joined the U.S. Army 101st Airborne. While stationed in Europe, he played Semi-Pro Basketball. Reggie was formerly employed by Pfizer (Upjohn) and was a spokesman for The United Way. His deep melodic voice presented him with many opportunities, including being a D.J. for radio station WKMI, a hobby that he very much enjoyed, as well as cooking great BBQ Ribs at the family's annual picnic. Reggie was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Robinson Sr; a brother, Danny Ray Carter; and a sister, Dorothy L. Davis. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory, his wife, Debra; one son, Travese Bradley (Maureen), of Grand Rapids, MI; his mother, Emily Robinson, of Benton Harbor, MI; 5 brothers, Thomas Robinson Jr. (Gwen), of Paris, CA; Oscar Robinson (Erma) Beaufort, SC; Alphonso Robinson (Sally), of Augusta, GA; Malcolm Robinson, of Temperance, MI; Gary Taylor, of Flint, MI; 6 sisters, Margaret Wilford, of Chicago, IL; Gloria Moore-Brown (James) of Hazelcrest, IL; Flora Thomas (David), of Kalamazoo, MI; Letha Robinson, of Kentwood, MI; Joyce Morgan of South Bend, IN; and Roslyn Crayton, of Memphis, TN; 2 godsons, Gary Harmon Jr. and Jadon Robinson; his godmother, Elsie Carter-McAfee; one uncle; Tobe Carter (Millie), both of Benton Harbor, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, with a 10:00 a.m. Family Hour at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 214 Britain, Benton Harbor, MI. Arrangements by the Harper Funeral Home, 521 Douglas Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI.
