LUSTYIK, ROBERT G. - Robert G. Lustyik, Sr., age 66, of Tarrytown died peacefully on April 30, 2002, at Westchester Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on May 15, 1935 in Eastview, New York, to Andrew and Esther Coogan Lustyik. Along with his seven siblings, Bob attended Pocantico Hills Schools and was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in 1954. After a distinguished athletic career at Washington Irving. Bob served in the United States Army specifically as a member of the elite Ranger Airborne's 101 "Screaming Eagles", Battalion, serving as a Drill Sergeant. Upon leaving the service, Bob took employ with the Westchester County Penitentiary as a Corrections Officer before going into business for himself as a Landscape Architect. Throughout his life, Bob devoted much of his time to serving others. As a Tarrytown Village Trustee for 18 1/2 years, Bob was instrumental in upgrading the quality of life for many village residents. Bob also served as Fire Commissioner for 12 years and was Deputy Mayor under two different political parties. He also held the position of PSTA President in conjunction with his trusteeship. He was a devoted member of Conqueror Hook & Ladder Fire Department, where he was an active member for more than 40 years, holding the position of President for more than 14 years. Bob was active in the American Forestry Association, a long time member of the North Eastern Loggers Association, and served as President of the New York State Nurserymen's Association. Most importantly, Bob was a loving and devoted husband to Arlene Dalton Lustyik, his survived wife of 44 years and sweetheart of 49 years. Married December 15, 1957, they raised three children- Patricia Lustyik Stock, Robert G. Lustyik, Jr., and Michael Andrew Lustyik. Patricia and her husband, US Army Master Sergeant David Stock, reside in Des Moines, Iowa with their two children Michael and Alyssa. Robert Jr., a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and his wife, Virginia Mercante Lustyik, reside in Sleepy Hollow, NY with their daughter Hannah. Michael, a Police Officer with the Tarrytown Police Department, and his wife, Nancy Postel Lustyik, reside in Montrose, NY, with their sons Ryan and Nicholas. Bob is survived by his four brothers Andrew (Carol) of New Hampton, NY, John (Susanne) of Lake George, NY, Kevin of Tarrytown, NY, and Donald of Lowell, MA. Several cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive him. Bob will be remembered as a selfless server of his village, a devoted brother and friend, a caring father and grandfather, and most of all, a loving husband "always". The Lustyik family invites all those whose lives were touched by Bob to a memorial service celebrating his life to be held on Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Christ Episcopal Church, Elizabeth Street, Tarrytown, NY at 11 am.
