Kathryn Willig, age 81 of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Reading, Pennsylvania, died November 21, 2007 surrounded by family and friends.
Kathryn was born December 2, 1925 in Lancaster, PA to Frederich and Katherine Schroeder, and moved to Reading as a child. In 1947, while walking down the street with her best friend Dolly, she spotted "her fella", a handsome young marine named Charles Willig.
Charles and Kathryn were married on March 27, 1948, and they spent 60 years enjoying each other and their life together. She was a devoted wife to Charles and loving mother to their son, Randy, and also worked for many years as a day care teacher. In 1993 she and Charles moved to Fort Collins to be close to their son. The family shared many happy times together, from watching birds in their backyard sanctuary, to trips to Black Hawk, where Kathryn was always a winner. The couple relished their new home and community. Kathryn found joy expressing herself as an artist, musician, poet and inventor. She created many works of art for family and friends, using art to make the world a better place. Her witty poems are also part of her legacy.
In addition to Charles and Randy, she is survived by her brother, Frederich "Fritz" Schroeder of Reading. She will be in their hearts forever.
