John was the most dedicated, loving, and respected man to everyone who ever had the joy and pleasure of meeting him. PVT Adams enlisted Oct. 25, 1954 with the United States Army with an Honorable Discharge in Oct.24, 1956. He retired from the City of Norfolk as a Chief Electrical Inspector in 1993 after 31 years of work. John joined the U. S Merchant Marines in 1958 and was a 32nd degree Mason until 1970. He was in the Coast Guard Auxillary and had a license to captain up to 100 gross tons.
On September 2, 1961 he married the woman of his dreams, and is survived by his wife Maxine R. Adams. Their son, Johnny E. Adams 47 of Va. Beach, and daughter, Machelle A. Bogue 44 of Norfolk, (Steven R. Bogue - Ex Son-in law) whom he loved and admired very much.
His pride and joy in life were his two grandchildren, Brandon R. Bogue of Norfolk and Malissa A. Hill (Alex Hill) of Norfolk, and the newest addition, his Great Granddaughter Madison S. Hill of Norfolk.
Brother to the late William K. Adams, survived by (Thelma) and brother to the late Louis S. Adam (Survived by Mary Ann) Sister of the late Betty J. Adams (late Bobby King) as well as eleven nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday January 12, 2012 in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
