Elbert Riley Anderson, 86, died June 12, 2001, in Bristow.

He was born June 12, 1915, in Mt. Vernon, Ky., the son of John H. and Dora E. (Jordan) Anderson.

He grew up in Kentucky, and attended school there. He worked in the CCC camps in Wyoming and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He lived some time in Gober, Texas, before moving to Bristow in 1933.

Elbert Riley Anderson and Lillian Faye Macomb were united in marriage June 1, 1944, in Bristow. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1998.

Mr. Anderson worked in maintenance for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1971. He attended classes for upholstery work and owned an upholstery shop in Sapulpa for several years. He was a member of the Bristow Free Holiness Church and was a founding member of Bristow VFW Post 3635.

He loved to garden and spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved dogs, having several for family pets. He also enjoyed small engine repair. he always had a smile on his face and always had a joke to tell. All of his family and friends will miss him dearly.

Mr. Anderson is survived by one son, Glenon Anderson and his wife, Ollie, of Stroud; two daughters, Brenda Gail Rudd and her husband, Ulysses of Cushing, and Linda Spangler and her husband Jim, of Depew; five grandchildren, Glenon Anderson Jr., of Glenpool, Jody Anderson of Stroud, Mark Piason of Bristow, Tammy Smith of Gypsy and Brenda Glisson of Welty.

Mr. Anderson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 54 years; three sisters and three brothers.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. June 15, 2001 (today) at the Oak HIll Cemetery north of Bristow with Rev. Melvin Duke officiating.
