David A. Byers was born in November of 1843 in Fayette, Pennsylvania and died on April 14, 1894 in Kingfisher County, Oklahoma. His parents were Andrew J. and Hannah L. (Beal) Byers of Pennsylvania.

He married (1) Elizabeth Staples on April 25, 1866 in Hancock, Illinois and they lived in Harmony (town) of that county raising three children: James Edward Byers 1867-1956; Clara Ann "Clary" Byers 1868-1883; and Sarah Belle Byers 1869-1899. The wife, Elizabeth, died on December 30, 1871 leaving three orphaned children that David could not care for and they went to live with Elizabeth's parents: Samuel and MaryAnn Staples in Hancock, Illinois.

David married (2) Hettie J. Boyd who was also from Pennsylvania and living in Cowley County Kansas where David had migrated to from Illinois. David and Hettie were married in about 1877 and had three sons in Cowley Co. Kansas before moving on to Kingfisher, Oklahoma where David died on April 14, 1894.
