Lutgarda Paguntalan Abagat was known as a very loving person. She was a friend, a companion, and a surrogate mother to many. To family and friends who knew her best, "Nay Dadang," as she was called, will be remembered as a very special person and very dear to our hearts.

Dadang was the daughter of Isidro and Benita Paguntalan. She was born and raised in Miagao, Iloilo along with one sibling. She had an older sister, Sinforosa (Deceased). Because their mother passed away at an early age, Dadang and her sister, "Pusang" as they called her, were very close and shared many wonderful life experiences with each other.

Always considered a motherly figure to those who knew her, Dadang enjoyed the company of family, many relatives and friends during her lifetime. While growing up, her best friends were Josefina Monsale Failagao and Salvacion Nobleza Moreno. Later in life, she became very close friends with Ina Sigue and Salvacion Novilla.

On April 29, 1937, Dadang exchanged wedding vows with Marcelo S. Abagat at Miagao Parish Church of Miagao, Iloilo. Empathetic and loyal, Dadang was very committed to making her new family happy.

Dadang worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs. Dadang was blessed with nine children, four daughters: Fe (Deceased), Rosario, Milagros, Rayalma (Deceased), and five sons: Jacob (Deceased), Rolando, Leonardo, Benito, and Joemar. In addition, she had two sons-in-law: Gonzalo and Rafael, and five daughters-in-law: Susan (Deceased), Azucena, Emperatriz, Loida, and Jessie. Another blessing for Dadang was the gift of fifteen grandchildren: Jason, Suzanne, Jerry, Rachel, Charlene, Ramil, Christine, Lea Michelle, Leonard Michael, Joselle, Shaola, Regil, Janica, Kevin, and Benito Jr., and two great grandchildren: Chill Irish and Lordrieck.

Fortunately, Dadang enjoyed what she did for a living. She assisted her husband in their tailoring shop as well as raised various livestock in addition to raising her children. When she moved from the Philippines to the United States, she also helped to raise some of her grandchildren as well.

Dadang's faith was very important to her. She was a member of Mother Butler's Guild and Apostolado del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus.

Nay Dadang passed away on January 10, 2008 at home in Chula Vista, CA. It was a Natural Death.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Rosario and Gonzalo, Rolando and Azucena, Milagros and Rafael, Leonardo and Emperatriz, Benito and Loida, and Joemar and Jessie; Her grandchildren: Jason, Suzanne, Jerry, Rachel, Charlene, Ramil, Christine, Lea Michelle, Leonard Michael, Joselle, Shaola, Regil, Janica, Kevin, and Benito Jr.; and Her two great grandchildren: Chill Irish and Lordrieck.
