Maria passed away in Hollister, CA, age 89. She was born in Cantuna, Zacatecas, Mexico. Her husband, Valentino Alonzo died in 1991 and through her life she was involved in farming and egg ranching in San Martin. She moved to Hollister from San Martin 15 years ago and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Hollister and St. Mary's Church in Gilroy. She was employed by Gilroy Foods in Gilroy and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 890. She enjoyed crocheting and going to senior citizen functions through Jovenes de Antano.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Pete and Mercy Alonzo of New Mexico, John and Esther Alonzo of Kingman, AZ, Robert and Eleanor Alonzo of Prunedale, Raymond and Vera Alonzo of Gilroy, Valentino and Marlene Alonzo of Hollister, Clara and Elias Bedolla of Hollister and Lupe and Joe Vazquez of Morgan Hill, her brother and sister, Frank Martinez of Walla Walla, WA and Jovita Trevino of Crystal City, TX. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, Albert Alonzo and Mary Garcia.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home. Interment was held on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at Calvary Cemetery.
