Eleanor Luthy Ashcroft, 76, of Hyde Park, Utah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at her home, due to long term health problems.

Eleanor was born October 20, 1933 in Logan, Utah, the daughter of August Luthy and Frieda Miller. She married Merlyn George Ashcroft, March 24, 1953 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was educated in the Logan City Schools and graduated from Logan High School. She attended Utah State University for a short time and then went to secretarial school.

She worked as a secretary for the U.S. Government, and the Utah State Tax Commission. She also worked as a reading aide at North Park Elementary and as an Administrative Secretary for the Cache County School District.

Eleanor loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. She served for 25 years in the Primary as a Stake Primary President, secretary and ward counselor. She served as President of the Young Women and as a teacher in the Sunday School and Relief Society. She worked in the Church Extraction Program from its beginning. She also served as a stake missionary with her husband.

Eleanor was an avid genealogist and loved to gather and write family histories, research and do temple work. She loved flowers and taking care of her beautiful yard, baking, sewing, canning and embroidery. She won many ribbons for her canning and handwork at the County and State Fairs.

Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and spending lots of time together. Her life was devoted to her family and the church.

Eleanor is survived by her two sons, Kyle (Susan) Ashcroft and Mark (Celia) Ashcroft, and one daughter, Becky (Brian) Potts, all of Hyde Park, UT; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers: Melvin J. (Anne) Luthy, David H. (Karen) Luthy and Howard (Judy) Luthy; three sisters: Flora Carson, Elizabeth (Calvin) Cressall and Linda (Lynden) Forsberg.

Her husband, Merlyn; parents; brother, August; and sisters, Ruth Luthy Mathews, Golda Keysor and Bertha Harris preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 22, 2010 at the Hyde Park Stake Center, 535 East 200 South, Hyde Park, with Bishop Mark Bennett conducting.
