JOHN AUNGST PASSES
Early Sunday morning John Aungst an old time resident of Brewster, passed away suddenly without apparent illness. He had for some days complained of not feeling well, but no attention was paid to it. About four o'clock Sunday morning he aroused his wife and indicated pain. Being unable to speak he nodded assent that she should give him a tablet. Hardly had he taken it than he fell forward and died instantly.
Mr. Aungst was born in Pennsylvania nearly seventy three years ago. He learned that carpenter's trade and worked at it all his life. Just forty three years ago he was married to Miss Leah Bobb, in Illinois. Five children, all living were born to them; Charles, Harry, Alice, and Mrs. Keith were present with their mother at the funeral. Cora and Verna, both married live in Illinois and Colorado.
Four brothers and one sister survive him.
He came with his family to Brewster about sixteen years ago and lived continuously here.
As a father he was devoted to his children, a pal to his boys, taking them on camping, fishing and hunting trips and making their young friends welcome at his home.
His funeral was attended by many friends and neighbors. The Brewster Unit closed doors until mid afternoon out of respect to the family. The service was conducted in the Congregational Church by Rev. O. S. Barnum. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. The interment was in the Brewster cemetery.
His widow returns with one son to make her home in the same town with him. Mr. Aungst will be missed by many old time friends.
