Body of Norfork
Soldier Returned
For Burial
The body of Pvt. Glen C. Beavers, who was killed while serving in the army in the Pacific during World War Two, is being returned to the United States aboard the army transport Sergeant Morris E. Cain. It was announced this week by the American Graves Registration Division.

Military Rites Held
At Norfork For Pvt.
Glenn C. Beavers
Funeral services for Pvt. Glenn c. Beavers, who died in a Japanese concentration camp in the Philippine Islands, May 26, 1942, were held at the Norfork Cemetery, Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. D. W. Stark officiating. Military rites at the graveside were preformed by members of the American Legion and V. F. W. Posts of Norfork and Mountain Home. Arrangements were under the direction of the Roller-Barber Funeral Home.
Pvt. Beavers was born March 24, 1924, at Cartney. He entered the army at Kansas City, Mo., in November of 1939, and asked for foreign service. He was sent to the Philippine Islands in the spring of 1939, and had completed his enlistment and was ready to return home when war was declared in December, 1941. He remained in that area where he was in combat and captured. In 1944, word was received by his family that he had died in a Japanese concentration camp as a result of lack of food and ill treatment at the hands of the Japanese.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lena Grisham and stepfather, Glenn Grisham of Norfork.
