Thelma C. (Nuetzel) Bendel, 88, of Collinsville, died at 3:34 a.m. Wednesday, July, 2, 2008, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
She was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Caseyville. Mrs. Bendel was a life member of St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ in Collinsville where she was active with the Meals on Wheels; and retired from Civil Service with over 30 years service.
Survivors include a sister, Carol (Charles) Schroeder, of Collinsville; numerous cousins; nephew, Charles Schroeder, of New Orleans; a niece, Kim (Ron) Theleen, of Southbury, Conn.; three great-nephews, John C. Schroeder, Dan Theleen, and Steve Theleen; and four great-nieces, Katy Schroeder, Meg Schroeder, Jeanne Theleen, and Kimmie Theleen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Bendel; and her parents, George and Charlotte (Jahns) Nuetzel.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 6, at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 7, St, John Evangelical United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. David Stabenfeldt officiating.
Burial will be in the Caseyville Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ and will be accepted at the funeral home.
