Convelescent Center. She was a native of Hertford County, N.C. and widow of Lewis Elbert Brett, Sr.
She was a graduate of Chowan College and a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Walter R. Brett of Ashland and L.E. Brett, Jr. of Richmond; two brothers, Linwood Whitley and Gilbert Whitley, all of Como, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
