Mrs. Kathryn Smith Akridge, age 91, of E. McCarty Street in Sandersville, died Friday, March 20, 2015.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Warthen with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The Reverend Tim Powell will officiate.
Mrs. Akridge was a native of Washington County the daughter of the late Nahum Columbus Smith and the late Mildred Askew Smith. She was retired as a postal worker for the Warthen Post office and also worked as the Water Bill Clerk for Warthen. She formerly worked for Slade Tractor Company and the Geo. D. Warthen Bank. Mrs. Akridge was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the Washington County Pilot Club and the Warthen Town and Country Club. She is predeceased by her husband, Joshua H. Akridge; and her siblings, Elizabeth Smith, Steve A. Smith, and William Nahum Smith.
Survivors are her nieces, Susan Smith Murphy and her husband Carl of Grovetown and Sandra Smith Todd and her husband Colen of Mitchell; and many cousins including her caregiving cousins, Barbara and Kenneth Ansley of Warrenton and Judy Frolich of Sandersville.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
