George was born May 11, 1942, in St. Joseph, the son of Roy Fairfield Nelson and Katherine (Morton) nelson.
He married Brenda (Hamilton) Nelson on February 2, 1985, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home. Mrs. nelson, a registered nurse, is administrator of the Holt County Health Department in Oregon.
George worked on his family farm all of his life. He was of the Christian faith.
His father, Roy; and an infant daughter, Anna Louise Nelson, preceded him in death.
Additional survivors include a son, Peter H. nelson; daughter, Kristin Jane Nelson, both of the home; mother, Katherine M. Nelson, St. Joseph; sister, Jane Nelson Thompson and her husband, Sonny, St. Joseph; two brothers, Morton Nelson and his wife, Nancy, St. Joseph and John B. Nelson and wife, Denise, Kansas City.
Services were held Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel with burial in the Nelson Family Cemetery, all of St. Joseph.
The family suggests memorial contributions to United Cerebral Palsey or Hope House in Forest City."
