Clara B. Abernathy, 82, of Poplar Bluff, MO died Monday April 2, 2012 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mrs. Abernathy was born August 25, 1929 in Poplar Bluff, MO. She had lived around Broseley and Poplar Bluff most of her life. She had lived in St. Louis for 30 years and while living in St. Louis had worked at Walgreen. She was a charter member of Black River General Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, yard work and reading. She married Warren "Demp" Abernathy on May 23, 1948 in Piggott, AR. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2001. Survivors include one daughter, Donna Jean Montgomery of Riverside, CA; one son, Michael Warren Abernathy of Conway, AR; one brother, Robert Riepe of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren Visitation will be at 6 PM on Thursday at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. The funeral service will be at 11 AM on Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Brown Chapel Cemetery at Broseley, MO.
