Lester Lee Ashlock 77, of Maryville, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, MO., passed away Sunday, September 28, 2014 at the home of his daughter in College Springs, IA. He was born December 8, 1936 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Edith and Harold Ashlock. He graduated from Lafayette High School, then served in the United States Navy. He worked at Wilbert Vault Company, Maggie's Cafe, and the Ashlock Cafe, and retired Boehringer-Ingelheim. He enjoyed raising homing pigeons, and rabbits and showing them at local county and state fairs, he also enjoyed fishing and going to the casino. Lester was preceded in death by wife, Margaret Lucille Ashlock, his parents, and a brother, Clinton Ashlock. Survivors include, four daughters Linda (John) Schmidt of Savannah, MO, Roberta (Butch) Roberts of Clarinda, IA, Paula (Dave) Owens of College Springs, IA, and Sheila (Scott) Gatewood of St. Joseph, MO, and a son, Wes Ashlock of St. Joseph, MO, sixteen, grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, two brothers, Keith Ashlock of Kansas City, MO, and Roger Ashlock of St. Joseph, MO, and two sisters, Erma Brown of Oregon and Edna Ashlock of Kansas City, MO.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the Rupp Funeral Home, with a celebration of life to be conducted at 7:L00 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at the Bethel Cemetery 2:00 PM Friday, with military honors under the auspices of the Missouri Funeral Honors program.
