Colusa Sun-Herald, Colusa, CA, Monday, February 19, 1945: "Mrs. Florence Almstead Dead; Chico Services. Mrs. Florence Almstead, 66, property owner and resident of Colusa for the past 25 years, died at 6:15 a.m. Sunday in Colusa Memorial Hospital where she had undergone an operation nine days ago.
"Mrs. Almstead, a native of Missouri, where she was born March 10, 1878, would have been 67 next month. She was the owner of the Golden Eagle rooming house and other property in Colusa.
"The survivors are a son, Jess Trumbo, and a grandson, Leland Trumbo, both of Colusa; a sister, Mrs. Lola McDaniel of Chico, and a brother, Luther Summers of Chico. Mrs. Lillian Martin of Burney, Shasta county, is a surviving niece.
"The Nugent Funeral home in Chico will have charge of the services, which are to be held in Chico on Thursday. Mrs. Almstead had many friends in Colusa who will regret to learn of her death."

Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Almsted, 66, a resident of Chico for many years who died at Colusa Memorial Hospital Sunday, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Nugent Funeral Chapel. Rev. Henry L. Searle of the First Christina Church will conduct the services. Entombment will be in Chico Memorial Mausoleum.
Mrs. Almstead came to California in 1898 from her native state of Missouri and she and her husband made their home in Chico for many years before moving to Colusa.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Lee Trumbo and a grandson, Leland H. Trumbo, of Colusa; a brother, Luther F. Summers of Chico and a sister, Mrs. J.W. McDaniels of Chico.
