Bridget Gugerty was born in Ireland in 1841. She was married to John Coleman in Drougheda, Ireland, November 3, 1862. In 1863 she came with her husband to America, living a short time in New York City, and afterward moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where a son, William was born. Later they moved to Illinois and settled near Galesburg, where a daughter and son, Mary E. and John E., were born. They came west in an early day and homesteaded eight and one-half miles southwest of Fairmont, where they made their home until crop failures in 1894 and 95 and the father's ill health caused the to sell.

Elizabeth, Margaret E. and a son, James H., were born in Nebraska.

Mr. Coleman was a cripple for twenty-two years before his death, which occurred in 1902, since which time Mrs. Coleman has made her home in Fairmont with her son, William. Death occurred at four a.m. Sunday, October thirty-first. Her son, Williams, was the only child present at the time of her death. She died in his arms.

Funeral services were held from the Catholic church, Wednesday, November third, at nine-thirty a.m., Father Healy of Grafton officiating. He was assisted by Father Dumphy of Sutton and Father Becker of Geneva. A solemn high mass was rendered, the choir from Grafton, furnishing the music. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The children present at the funeral were William, James and Mary Coleman and Mrs. J.W. Parrish and daughter of Aurora, Illinois.
