Eligio J. Baca, Sr., age 84, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Chupadero, New Mexico on October 5, 1925 to the late Anacleto Baca and Melecia Arguello Baca. He was united in marriage in San Miguel, New Mexico on June 1946 to Helen Pacheco. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad where he was employed as Track Supervisor for 40 years. A lifetime Catholic, he attended the San Miguel Del Vado Church and Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. He was a member of Orchestra Tipica and also a member of several church choirs. He was preceded in death by his parents: Anacleto and Melecia Baca; wife: Helen P. Baca; sons: Joe Baca and Roger Baca; grandson: Steven Baca; sister: Agueda Baca. He is survived by his sons and daughters: Eligio B. Baca, Jr. Of Chupadero, NM, Nepie Baca of Pueblo, Colorado, Jesse Baca of Salt Lake City, Utah, Darleen Martinez and husband Pete of Tecolote, NM and Ellie Baca-Alarcon of Las Vegas, NM; daughter-in-law: JoAnn Baca of Chupadero, NM; 23 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great- grandchild; sisters-in-law: Lazarita Pacheco of Las Vegas, NM, Benarda Pino of Hatch, NM, Annie Baca (Trinidad) of Alamogordo, NM, Rose Martinez and husband Luis of Tecolote, NM; brothers-in-law: Maurico Pacheco and wife Mary and Eufemio Ulibarri of Las Vegas, NM; and sister-in-law Mary Ulibarri and husband Frank of Las Vegas, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
