He married Jane Van Wyck (1800-1880)

William and Jane had 11 children, including Rear Admiral Aaron Ward Weaver. William entered the Navy in 1811. His first cruise was on the "Chesapeake" under the command of Captain Lawrence. The ship was captured by the frigate "Shannon" at Boston. William was severely wounded and taken to Halifax, NS, Canada as a prisoner of war. He returned to Boston.
