Services for Allen Brown, 92, of Burneyville, were held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 13, in the Nazarene Baptist Church, Burneyville, with the Rev. Eugene Bellard officiating.
Mr. Brown was born April 11, 1910, at Burneyville, the son of Tom and Della Brown. He died Wednesday, December 11, 2002, in the Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.
A resident of Love County all of his life, Mr. Brown attended the school at Burneyville where he lived and worked as an independent farmer/rancher. Mr. Brown was a faithful member of the Nazarene Baptist Church until his health failed. The pastor and church members continued to bring church to him and other residents while he was a resident at Lake Country Nursing Center.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Samuel L. and O'Sheila Brown of Dallas, and Anthony Brown of Marietta; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Brown of Ardmore; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Samuel D. and Timika Brown of Dallas; a granddaughter, Syscily Brown of Marietta; two nieces, Loverine Brown Butler of Los Angeles, and Ruth Brown and her husband, Thomas, of Ardmore; two nephews, David Brown and his wife, Susan of Ardmore, Frank Pierce of Oklahoma City; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Hazel Brown Smith, Patsy Toles Brown and Dovie Halstied Brown; a son, A.B. Brown; two brothers, Hawthorne Brown and Jessie Brown; and a sister, Rose Brown Pierce.
Pallbearers were the men of the Nazarene Baptist Church. Flower girls were the women of the Nazarene Baptist Church.
Interment was in the Dunbar Cemetery, Burneyville, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta
