Opal Ledford Burrell, age 86, of Hayesville, NC passed away Thursday, September 26, 2013 at the Chatuge Regional Nursing Home in Hiawassee, GA.
She was a native of Clay County, NC and the daughter of the late Luther Franklin and Lize McClure Ledford. Opal was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Burrell Jr; and two sisters, Zelpha Davenport and Pauline Ledford.
She is survived by one son, James Burrell (Bo) and wife Vickie of Robbinsville, NC; one daughter, Janet Cowart and husband Johnny of Hayesville, NC; two sisters, Astille Ledford and Lou Jean Davenport both of Hayesville, NC; three grandchildren, Jonathan Cowart and Melinda, Melissa Goforth and husband Brandon and Jennifer Adams and husband Travis; three great grandchildren, Catlin Cowart, Hailey Adams and Hannah Adams; and several nieces and nephews.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Philadelphia Cemetery in Hayesville, NC. Rev. Wayne Matheson and Rev. Johnny Burrell will officiate. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM, Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Townson-Rose Funeral Home Chapel of Hayesville, NC.
