Francis Rodney Brooks was born October 29, 1935 to Charley and Allean (Barker) Brooks on a farm west of Geary, OK. He passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK at the age of 79.

Francis attended several country schools in the Red Rock area before graduating from Hinton High School in 1954. He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Fulton August 6, 1954 at the Bethel Methodist Church and they had celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August. They made their home in El Reno from 1954 to 1960 where Francis worked for Dowell Well Service and their first three children Pam, Chuck, and Greg were born.

In 1960, the family moved to the Bethel Community where Francis engaged in farming and ranching and their fourth child Rodney was born. Francis raised wheat and Herford Cattle. They moved to their current home also known as “Canadian View Farms” in 1969. Francis became heavily involved in several facets of the registered livestock industry, beginning with Hampshire hogs, was one of the first Simmental Cattle Breeders in Oklahoma continuing to sell bulls until 1992 when they changed to Angus cows. While continuing to raise wheat and cattle; in 1977 they began buying and raising American Quarter Horses in which he had a Quarter Horse Mare attend the American World Quarter Horse Show two different times.

Francis was a member of AQHA, the Oklahoma Simmental Association, the Hampshire Swine Association, and the Hydro Swine Breeders Associating. He was a past member of the Bethel Methodist Church and was a current member of the First United Methodist Church in Hinton. Mary Ann was Francis’ right hand helper in all of their facets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Allean Brooks, brother, Garnett Brooks, sister, Claudean Joyner, and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Beverly Brooks.

Francis is survived by his wife Mary Ann Brooks of the home; four children, Pam Coe and her husband Carl of Hydro, Chuck Brooks of Ensign, KS, Greg Brooks of Hydro, and Rodney Brooks and his wife Marti of Hydro; grandchildren, Nikki Snider and her husband Chris of Yukon, Natalie Ambrose and her husband Kyle of Stillwater, Neesa Smith and her husband Nacona of Hydro, Lauren Brooks of Hydro, Zachary Brooks of Weatherford, Amber Lawler and her husband Travis of Amarillo, TX, Kassidy Burchett and her husband Aaron and Kallie Brooks all of Hydro; great grandchildren, Andrew and Luke Snider, Emma June, Noah, and Lola Ann Ambrose, Newly Mae Smith, Jacklyn and Jace Burchett, and Jaxon and Lyla Lawler; siblings, Charlean Blood and her husband Bill of Naples, FL, Garland Brooks of El Reno, Frank Brooks of Ft. Worth, TX, and Carolyn Overmyer of Lemoore, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
