Nancy Adams was born Predicanda Montiel. When she entered school, her name was too difficult for correct pronunciation, so she became known as Nancy. She married David Luna from New Mexico, and they had one son together, David Gilbert Luna, but soon divorced. Nancy later married Raymond Adams, and together, they had one daughter, Betty. Although her health was at risk due to the rheumatic fever that had damaged her heart as a child, Nancy was determined to raise her two children herself, and so she did with only temporary outside help. Nancy was a gentle, kind woman who loved her family deeply and defended them as a mother bear would defend its cubs. This loyalty and love transcended down to her grandchildren and step-grandchildren, who miss her dearly to this day.
