A resident of Onaway since 1995, moving from Waterford, Jerry was born March 6, 1944 in Lake Orion, the son of Clarence and Ida (Themm) Armstrong. On February 19, 1966 in Port Huron, he married Phyllis Bailey. He was employed by Chrysler Automobile Company in Detroit for 18 years, retiring in 1994 as a General Foreman/manager. With his family, he enjoyed vacationing, especially in the Onaway area, attending Detroit Tiger games, and hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife, Phyllis, four children, Barbara (Tony) Verpooten of Lake Orion, Jerri (David) Duncan of Clarkston, Mark Armstrong of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, and Stephanie (fiancée’, Eric Masson) Armstrong of Onaway, two sisters, Anna (Jim) Patterson of Waterford, and Donna Decker of Clarkston, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Rachel Jabrow, two sisters, Carolyn Simpson and Marilyn Sweeny, and two brothers, Harry Armstrong and James Cole.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at North Ellis Cemetery.
