Francis M. Handley was born in Orange County, Indiana, August 18, 1845 and departed this life at her home in Dieterich, January 16, 1916, age 70 years, 4 months and 28 days. She was married to Elias Boose September 8, 1866, who preceded her to the better world almost four years ago.

To this union eleven children were born, five preceding her to the better land. She united with the Christian church in 1878 in which she lived a faithful Christian life. She was a kind friend and neighbor and an affectionate companion and mother. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Susie Quakenbush and Mrs. Frankie Hodges; four sons, Truman, Lome, Wash and Emerson Boose; twenty-three grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Aunt Fanny, as we always called her, was a good neighbor and had a pleasant word for everyone, and while it is our loss, it is her gain.

All was done that loving hands and constant attention could do at the time of her death, and the end came finding her ready and willing to go. She often expressed that assurance of a home beyond the sky and often telling her children that she was just patiently waiting for the Lord to call her home to that peaceful rest. The Lord's will be done, and that she is taken from us, we can meet again if we but hold out faithful until the end of life.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. W. Barrett of the M. E. Church at Bible Grove.

"Our dear mother from us is gone; A voice oft heard is stilled; A chair is vacant in our home; Which never can be filled."

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the dear friends who so kindly assisted us in the dark hour of sorrow and bereavement and thereby have helped us bear the loss our beloved mother and Grandmother.

Truman Boose, Lome Boose, Wash Boose, Mrs. Susie Quackenbush, Mrs Frankie Hodges, Emerson Boose and Grandchildren.

For the 1860 census on 27 August 1860 she was with her parents and one sibling in Ingraham Prairie, Clay County, Illinois. Her neighbor was her future husband Elias Boose.
