George Logan Allen, was born March 16, 1868 in LaFayette, Indiana and died July 14, 1925 at Wabash County. He married Gussya E. Vanzant September 20, 1921 at Mt. Vernon. He leaves his wife and children by a former marriage [see note below]: Frank of Onarga, S.A. of Mt. Zion, Jennie Parrents of Fairfield, W.O. of Wayne City, Barney and T.P. of Decatur. He also leaves a brother, Jerry, of Wayne City, and sisters: Mrs. Charles [Viola] Rawls, Mrs. William Newman, Mrs Wilson Thomason and Mrs. Robert Close, all of Wayne City and Mrs. William [Hannah] Hargrave of Weatherford, Oklahoma. Burial in Olive Branch Cemetery.


[Note: death record indicates he died in Decatur, Marion County, but obit says Wabash County. He had a previous marriage to Laura Belle Turner in 1892. ]


obit: July 23, 1925~George Logan Allen, died Tuesday morning July 14, 1925, at three o'clock, to the Wabash Employees' Hospital where he had been a patient for the last three weeks and where on Monday, he submitted to a surgical operation for a goiter. Mr. Allen was born Mar 16, 1868 near Lafayette, Ind. Four years ago he moved to Decatur and was employed as motorman on the street car line but for the last two years has been employed in the Wabash car shops. He was married to Gussye E. Vanzant Sept 20, 1921 in Mt. Vernon. He leaves his wife and the following named children by a former marriage; Frank E. Allen, Onarga S. A. Allen, Mt. Zion; Mrs. Jennie Parrent, Fairfield; W. O. Allen, Wayne City and Barney and T. P. Allen of Decatur. Also his brother, Jerry Allen of Wayne City, and his sisters, Mrs. Charles Rawls, Mrs. Wm. Newman, Mrs. Wilson Thomason and Mrs. Robert Close all of Wayne City, and Mrs. Wm Hargrave of Weatherford, Okla. He was converted and joined the Ellis Mound Church. He was a member of the Shipmen's local No. 1 and the Modern Woodmen. Funeral services were held at his home 1061 East Main Street Decatur, Wednesday afternoon and the body was brought to the home of his sister, Mrs. Chas. Rawls, Thursday. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Olive Branch conducted by Elder W. A. Mayberry.
