Leonard owned Wudel Chevrolet in Parkston SD from 1929-1932.He also founded the Wudel Gas and Oil in Parkston SD and sold the business to Herb Wudel in 1932. He began Wudel Gas and Oil in Mitchell SD in 1939 branding it Phillips 66. He owned a small dairy farm as a side business on the south side of Mitchell and had Palomino horses.Later sold the dairy and went into raising horses, trained ,showed,bred and sold for the American Saddle Horse Association. In 1953 he sold all of his businesses in Mitchel and moved to Rapid City where he owned and operated the Lakota Lodge a 3 story downtown motor lodge and the Lewis Building an apartment-commercial property until his health began to fail.
