AARON JACOB FUNK, 98, a resident of Quincy United Methodist Home, Quincy, and formerly of 5290 Buchanan Trail East, Waynesboro, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 1997, in the nursing home. He had been in failing health for the past two years and critically ill since Jan. 2.
Born May 19, 1898, in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Jacob and Rebecca (Omwake) Funk. He was a life long resident of the Waynesboro area.
He and his wife, the late Mrs. Mary E. (Reynolds) Funk, were married Sept. 22, 1920. They moved to a home near Zullinger in 1938 and then moved to the Buchanan Trail East home in 1955. Mrs. Funk died Sept. 7, 1970. Mr. Funk entered the nursing home on Sept. 1, 1989.
Mr. Funk worked at Frick Co., Waynesboro, for more than 40 years. He had worked in the stock room and when he retired in 1965, he was a clerk in the production department.
He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, Waynesboro. He also was a member of the national AARP.
He is survived by two daughters, Anna E. "Betty" Pratt and Mary Jane Simmers, both of Waynesboro, one son, Charles W. Funk of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Susan E. Price of Portsmouth, Va.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin S. Funk and Ralph O. Funk.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Burns Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, with Chaplain C. Albert Guyer officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church, 43 S. Church St., Waynesboro, Pa.17268.
Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is in charge of the arrangements.
