Clarence Cecil Dougherty suffered a fatal heart attack while at work at the Tillamook Bay Lumber company mill Monday evening, February 14, 1955 at 7:45 p.m. shortly after he reported for work.
Mr. Dougherty was born at Waldport, October 24, 1898. He came to Bay City in 1913 and has been a resident of the county ever since. He had never married. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran church of Tillamook and Tillamook Pioneer Association, He was a mill worker by occupation and worked for the Coats mill until it was closed. He was the grandson of Nathan Dougherty for whom the Dougherty Slough was named. His father was John Cecil Dougherty, said to be the first white child born in Tillamook city.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Evelyn M. Magee of Tillamook; three brothers, Elmer N. of Pendleton, William F. of Portland, and John M. of Forest Grove; and several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Lundberg and Son with Rev. E.H. Lutz officiating. Vault entombment will be made in the family plot at Bay City IOOF cemetery.
