Capitola Juanita Rehagen, age 83, of St. Elizabeth, died Friday, August 4, 2006, at Capital Region Medical Center. She was born in Iberia on November 13, 1922, to William Roy and Gertrude Edith (Carroll) Irwin. On June 5, 1940, she was married to John Leo Otto, who died May 23, 1945. On November 9, 1946, in St. Elizabeth, she was married to Lawrence Frank Rehagen, who died August 5, 2006.

She was a 1939, graduate of Tuscumbia High School. She received her Nursing Certificate in 1947, and Journalism Certificate in 1949. She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth and St. Ann's Sodality. She was the St. Elizabeth correspondent for the Meta Herald, Iberia Sentinel, and Jefferson City News Tribune during the 1950's and 60's. She worked at the Tuscumbia Clinic for five years, until it closed in 1968, and retired from the Langenberg Hat Factory in St. Elizabeth. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #0545 in St. Elizabeth and the Miller County Leader of the Junior Farmers Association.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Marvin and Weldon "Bud" Irwin; and one great-granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in St. Elizabeth. Rev. Francis Stuart, OSB, will officiate. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, at the St. Elizabeth Community Center with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Elizabeth Care Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home in St. Elizabeth.
