Clifton D. "Zeke" Boatright, Sr.


Bloomingdale-Mr. Clifton D. "Zeke" Boatright, Sr., 86, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2012 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Boatright was born in Sanford, FL to the late Clinton & Ollie Boatright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline R. Boatright. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Chester "Chek" Boatright and Clifford "Doc" Boatright, whom shared the distinction of being the oldest triplets in the Savannah area. He was a charter member of Ash Street Baptist Church (formerly Milton Memorial Baptist Church). He retired from Union Camp and served his country in both the U.S. Army and the National Guard for sixteen years. He served with the Pooler Fire Department for two years, was a founding father of the Bloomingdale Fire Department and served for over fifty-three years where he had formerly served as Fire Commissioner, Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. He was a member and chaplain of the Chatham County Fire Chief Association, a charter member of the Bloomingdale Lions Club and had served as chaplain of the Woodmen of the World. He enjoyed yard work, fishing and serving his Lord and Savior. Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Eddleman of Guyton; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ray & Donna Brown of West Chester, PA, Clifton D. "Jack" & Sherry Boatright, Jr. of Bloomingdale and John "Skippy" Boatright of Bloomingdale; grandchildren, Amy Sanders, Lora Helmly and twins, Robbie and Ryan Eddleman; great-grandson, Brenton Sanders; brother, Jimmy Boatright of Dublin; several nieces and nephews; his best fishing buddy, Henry Crowe and a number of friends, including Millie Gatch and Harper Bragg, Sr. Visitation: 5-8 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Funeral: 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Westside Memorial Gardens with military and fireman honors.
