Richard C. Booth, passed away peacefully at the age of 86, on June 3, 2011. His family was by his side as he went home to be with the Lord.

Richard was born January 3, 1925 in Akron, Ohio to the late Harry and Willa Booth. He attended and graduated from Hower Vocational School in Akron in 1942. Richard then served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a Martin Marauder B-26 Bomber mechanic. After his military service he was employed in the sheet metal trade until 1956, when he went to work for NASA as an instrument and repair mechanic at Lewis Research Center (now Glenn Research Center) in Cleveland. He retired from NASA in 1986.

Richard was also a member and president of the Akron Astronomy Club and the Chippewa Astronomical Society. He was also a member of the National Crossbowmen Association, and was instrumental in changing the state law in Ohio that allows the crossbow to be used for hunting. Richard attended the Freshwater Community Church in Wadsworth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Willa Booth; brothers, Raymond Booth, Don Booth, Paul Booth and William Booth; sister, June Booth Hill all of Akron. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rosina Koehler Booth of Doylestown; and his second wife, Marie Ferrell Blevins Booth of Wadsworth. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Booth Spalding and son-in-law, Jack Spalding of Easley, South Carolina; son, Karl Booth and daughter-in-law, Debbie DeLong Booth of Wadsworth; step-sons, Richard and wife, Martha Blevins of Greensburg, Pennsylvania and Mark Blevins of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Scott and Nicholas Booth, Douglas (Jennifer); Michael (Chris), Tilly and Doris Blevins, Erin (Mark) Lipley; great-grandchildren, Blaze, Morgan and Lani; sister-in-law, Opal (Loren) Codding of Cortez, Colorado; brother-in-law, Mike Ferrell of Seville; sister-in-law, Julie Ferrell of West Salem, Ohio.
