NEWTON FALLS - William ''Bill'' Caldwell, 78, passed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his bedside.
William was born on Aug. 12, 1933, in Warren, the son of Herbert and Mildred Oswald Caldwell.
William grew up in Newton Falls, attending the Newton Falls school system.
On Dec. 14, 1951, William and his childhood sweetheart, Patricia A. Leasure, were united in marriage in the First Congregational Church in Newton Falls. The family grew to include five children.
Bill and his family lived in Braceville for a time and then relocated to Warren, where the children were raised. After the children were grown, Bill and Patricia returned to his childhood home once again in Newton Falls, where he lived the rest of his amazing life.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been a member of the American Legion Post 236.
Bill had been employed at the Ravenna Arsenal and also at the Denman Tire Company. He retired from his duties as a tire builder from Denman Tire in 1986, so that he could care for his wife, Patricia.
He was a talented woodworker, creating many beautiful gifts for family and friends.
He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians. When the season ended, he looked forward to spring and the next baseball season.
Bill made friends with everyone he met. His laughter, smile and big heart made it so easy to love him. His family was his joy. There are many family pictures taken on the front porch of his Superior Street home and of Christmas Eve get-togethers that confirm his joy.
The memories of Bill and his family traditions will be carried on by his loving and caring family, his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia (Jack) Cowgar and LuAnn (Sergio) Aguilera; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy (Brenda) Caldwell and Bart (Lori) Caldwell; a daughter-in-law, Karen Caldwell; his adored grandchildren, Angela (Charles), Jeremy (Crystal), Lucas (Holly), Tonia, William, Mark (Shelby), Randy Jr. (Debra), Leann, Michelle (Danny), Kurtis, Casey, Michael, Katie, Michael, Jessica, Mark, Nathaniel and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Daleen, Samantha, Anne, Clair, Alexis, Lillian, Avery, Henna, Amanda, Christian, Brandon, Brittany, Shane, Jaycee, Ben, Jordan, Chris, Billy Jr., Randy III, Chase, Chayla, Logan, Justus, Destiny and Christopher; great-great-grandchildren, Brooke, Brock, Bryce and Ashlynn; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen Jane (William) Holley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Jean) Caldwell.
