Alice Pauline "Pauline" Roper Dills.

Pauline was born in Nantahala, Macon County, NC, the daughter of William Thomas "Thomas" Roper and Estella A Denny Roper. Her birth record has her name "Alice P Roper" born on January 18, 1919.

Andrews - Pauline Dills, 87, of Kingsgate Lane, Andrews, died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at her home.

She was a native of Macon County and the daughter of the late William Thomas and Estella Denny Roper.

She was a resident of Andrews for the past fourteen years, coming from the Nantahala Community in Macon County. She was a member of the Bethel Hill Baptist Church, an aide at Southwestern Child Development and had worked at Jack's Five and Ten Cent store. She enjoyed working with her flowers, bird watching and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Dills; two brothers Odell and Gay Roper; and one sister Ruth Cope.

She is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Billy and Pat Dills of Ringgold, Ga., Ronald and Brenda Dills of Dalton, Ga. and Jerry and Becky Dills of Cohutta, Ga.; two daughters Mary Ruth Gillespie of Andrews, and Carolyn Grant and husband Bobby of Wiley, Ga.; two sisters Roberta Morgan of the Nantahala Community, and Connie Lawrence of Andrews; 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, special friends Beth Decker and Kindra Waldroup and the staff of Good Shepard Hospice.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel Hill Baptist Church in Nantahala with the Rev. Jimmy McClure officiating. Interment will be in the Bethel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Dills, Cheryl Stewart, David Stewart, Keith Gillespie, Harold Grant and Barry Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be Becky Dills, Paul Brendle and Kruz Stewart.
