ARLINGTON — James W. "Wes" Lehr, 86, of Arlington, passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at his home in Arlington.

Wes was born on May 27, 1926, in Mineral Point, the son of Beaulah Harker and James W. Lehr Sr.

He married Betty Jean Holmes on Oct. 6, 1950; she preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 1984. Wes served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in Dodgeville and Madison as a carpenter for 42 years.

He was a resident of Arlington since 1959; he was a volunteer firefighter and a building inspector in Arlington for many years. He loved his family dearly with a very special connection to all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

As much as he loved all of us, he was very aware of and looked forward to joining his beloved wife, Betty, in their heavenly home after 29 years. He is truly happy again.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; one brother; two sisters; his mother- and father-in-law; and several brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with Pastor Kathy Reid officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by the Poynette-area veterans. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Special heartfelt thanks to very dear friends to Dad, Michelle Colstad and neighbors Mark, Dave and Sandy, who Dad really enjoyed. The family appreciates their many hours doing whatever Dad needed.

God gives us love, someone to love he lends us.
