Ann Mariah Hattabaugh was the daughter of George W. and Sarah Boling Hattabaugh. She was married 1st to David Johnson, a grandson of Archibald and Mary Idol Johnson. David was a Union soldier and died of his wounds during the Civil War. There were no children of this union.

Archibald Johnson being sworn deposeth or says that he was the father of David Johnson late a private in Co. G 18th Reg Ind Vol Inft his son was wounded at Thompsons Hill in Louisiana by musket ball in the thigh he went after his son to Grand Gulf and got permission to bring his son on a hospital boat home, on his way home he died of his wounds (the 9th day of June 1863) between Cairo and Mound City Illinois on said boat there was but one person present that knew him, except myself when he died, that party is not a resident of this county at this time, that he has no interest in this claim.

Subscribed and sworn to before me this 26th day of October 1867. I certify that the affiant is a respectable citizen and a credible person that I have no interest in this claim.

After David's death she married Thomas Oliver Denney. Tragically after the birth of their youngest son George W. both died of consumption. Their burial place is not known at this time, but possibly they are resting in the Plattsburg Cemetery as son George requested to be buried there with his family.

After their death, their children were raised by the parents of Ann Mariah, George W. and Sarah Boling Hattabaugh.
