James Carroll Wood, age 20, killed in Vietnam on April 11, 1968.
Son of Carroll E. Wood and Mrs. Harriet Firkin (Perkins?) Wood Johnson.
Graduate of E. C. Glass, in Army about 18 months, a paratrooper of the 503rd Infantry Division. Took part in the Dorn Triangle, his unit - 173rd Battalion made the first combat jump in Vietnam. voluntary second duty - served as helicopter gunner in battle on Hill 885 at Dak To.
Aug. 1968 - family received his medals - Army Commendation Medal, the Air Medal, the Purple Heart, and the Bronze Star, V for valor.
