Mrs. Jennie Lee Caldwell Barkley, 90, of Huntersville, NC died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews. Born May 20, 1920 in Mecklenburg County she was a daughter of the late Ervin Quitman Caldwell and Mittie Bumgarner Caldwell. She retired from Huttig Sash and Door Company in 1986 and was a charter member of Huntersville United Methodist Church where she was very active in the seniors group and circle. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Thursday December 16 in the Chapel of Raymer Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Huntersville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 am. She leaves to cherish her memory her adopted son, Howard Barkley and wife Sylvia; sisters, Margaret Ward of Salisbury, Maryland, Merle Barnette of Lincolnton, Helen Gilbert of Troutman; brothers, Roy Caldwell of Huntersville, Tom Caldwell of Mooresville; adopted grandchildren, Noel Hamrick, Van Barkley, adopted great grandchild, Chipper Hamrick and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. Barkley; siblings, Frances Perry, Louise Barkley, Jane Beaty, Ray Caldwell and Clifton Caldwell. Memorials may be made to the Huntersville United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 378, Huntersville, NC 28070.
