A FINAL FAREWELL - APRIL 1994

Friends and family gathered today to say their final farewells to Charles C. Anthony, known to most as "Tony"; a loving husband, a good father, a wonderful grandfather and a good friend to many people.
Tony was born December 6th, 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts. He joined the Army in 1945 at the age of 17. In 1952 he met Lois Kessler and married her October of that same year.
The next twelve years would include seven children; John, Mike, Susan, Bryan, Bruce, Sharon and Lance.
Tony's 27 years of distinguished military service in the United States Army took him and his family to such station sites as Japan, Korea, the Phillipines, Vietnam, Germany, North Carolina, Kansas, Texas, Oregon, Missouri, Michigan and Ohio.
He retired from the Army in 1970 and moved his family to Aurora, Colorado in 1972, where he had always dreamt of living. Tony's military retirement was followed by 23 years of civil service with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Many of his coworkers said that he was the kindest man who treated everyone equally and with respect. He had always said, "People work with me, not for me."
It's also been rumored that Tony was the neatest and most organized employee the FAA had ever seen. Even at home, his children affectionately referred to him as "Felix" from the Odd Couple.
Tony retired from the FAA in January of this year [1994] after being diagnosed with cancer. Even in his few months of retirement, Tony was a man who could never sit still. If you knew him, you knew he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to work with wood, making gifts for his children and grandchildren. He loved gardening and tending to his lawn and was always 'just puttering around.'
Tony was generous with his time and energy, always willing to help anyone in need. Tony's advice was always free. Many times his family took his advice and other times we realized we should have.
Tony, Dad, Grampa (as he liked to spell it) was a much admired and respected man and will be missed by many ...for a very long time.
Rest in Peace Dad.
We love you.
