Douglas Lynn Bockus, age 46, of Cherokee, passed away at home Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, with Steve Pochop officiating. Burial will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Mr. Bockus was a native of North Platte, Neb., and was a member of Abundant Grace Church. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann, and brothers, Justin and John Bockus.
He is survived by his grandmother, Marie Allen, of North Platte, Neb.; mother, Sue Reeves and husband, John, of Cherokee; father, Dennis Bockus and wife, Connie, of Gothenburg, Neb.; God-given daughters, Chelsea Neill (Aaron), Jessica Jones, Nicole James (Cody); brother, Jim Bockus (Tanya), of Cherokee; special niece, Amber Bockus; stepbrother, Dennis Reeves, of Nashville, Tenn.; sister, Toni Land, of Brady, Neb.; and stepsister, Lajuana Reeves, of Nashville; four grandchildren, Cameron, Mikey, Karmen and Evan.
Pallbearers are Johnny Stonecipher, Mike Rackley, Josh McVay, Zac McVay, Larry Minor and Jeff Radiola.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, is directing.
