John was born in New York City and attended schools in New York and Connecticut, including Hamilton College. He was a veteran of World War II. After the war, he moved to Hollywood, CA, to join his father and begin his career as a furniture buyer. In 1969, he was asked by Leon Levy to come to Tucson to start the new furniture department for Levy's at the El Con Mall from which he retired in 1984. John loved the game of golf and won many trophies over the years.
