John Anthony Bigon, 66, of Northrup, was born on January 11, 1950 in Giddings, Texas, the son of Ellford "E.R." Bigon and Wilma (Noack) Bigon. He was baptized on January 13, 1950 and confirmed on March 22, 1964 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas by Rev. Arthur Arndt. His confirmation verse was Proverbs 30:5, "Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in Him."

John was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin where he served on the scholarship committee and was a member of the Lutheran Layman's League. He enjoyed watching college football, especially the Texas A&M fighting Aggies. John began working at Brookshire Brothers Grocery in Giddings in 1982 as a stocker/sacker and retired in 2016 after working 34 years.

John passed away the afternoon of Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Oakland Manor Nursing Center in Giddings following a battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ellford "E.R." Bigon.

John is survived by his mother, Wilma Bigon of Northrup; sister and brother-in-law, Sue & Melvin Wachsmann of Spring; brother and sister-in-law, Jim Bob and Kathleen Bigon of Northrup; two nephews, Chris Wachsmann & his wife, Alainna of Hockley and Shawn Bigon of Northrup; one niece, Melanie Wachsmann of Tomball and one great nephew, Wyatt Wachsmann of Hockley and other family and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin with Rev. David Mumm officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Urban, Ricky Stork, Kyle DeVoll, Carl Mertink Jr., Lee Teinert, Glenn Bigon. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Shawn Bigon, Melanie Wachsmann, Chris Wachsmann, Jack Jones, Doug Malke and Ricky Huggins.

Memorial may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Serbin Scholarship Fund or the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Serbin Restoration Fund, 1572 County Road 211, Giddings, Texas 78942..
