Opal J. Borders, 79, passed away April 4, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

The daughter of the late Bartie and Myrtle Merritt Wise, Borders was born Feb. 22, 1930, near Bernie, Mo. She and Gerald Borders were married Sept. 3, 1965, in Mississippi.

Borders lived in Sikeston, Mo., for 45 years. She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors include her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary W. and Darla Craft of Cape Girardeau; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharion and Keith Turman of Bernie; a stepdaughter, Darletta Fijal of Warrensburg, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clarence Ray Wise of Federal Way, Wash. Other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Craft, and a brother, Walter Wise.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with the Rev. Steven Tippen officiating.

Interment will be in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
